ABOUT AMANDA

Amanda Eliasch

Amanda Eliasch is an English filmmaker, photographer, poet, and artist known for bold, introspective work spanning fashion, art, photography and cinema.

Born in Beirut, Lebanon, in 1960 and raised in London by her grandfather—the celebrated film director Sidney Gilliat—Amanda discovered her passion for the arts early on. A graduate of the Academy of Live and Recorded Arts, she has built a multifaceted career marked by raw honesty and creative fearlessness.

Her journey includes acclaimed photography exhibitions such as Three Way Mirror (Cork Street Gallery, 1999) and Peep(Proud Gallery, 2001), as well as the poetry collections Cloak & Dagger Butterfly (2008) and Sins of a Butterfly (2010).

Eliasch's directorial debut, the award-winning The Gun, The Cake and The Butterfly (2013), is a deeply personal documentary-drama drawn from her own life, poetry and theatrical work. The film received international recognition, including honours at festivals in Ischia, New York, Burbank and La Jolla.

Since 2008, she has also brought her distinctive visual sensibility to high fashion as an editor for Genlux Magazine, bringing together glamour, photography and artistic expression.

In the feature documentary The Truth Will Out, Eliasch serves as Co-Producer, Art Director and Host, leading a fascinating investigation into the enduring mystery surrounding the authorship of the works attributed to William Shakespeare. Through conversations with actors, writers, historians and researchers, she guides audiences through competing theories, historical intrigue and questions that have fascinated scholars and Shakespeare enthusiasts for generations.
